Visitor Parking

Parking on the MSU campus during the day on weekdays is tricky. We encourage visitors to take a bus or, weather permitting, travel by bicycle. MSU’s Parking Office is waiving bicycle registration and will not impound unregistered bicycles during the festival as long as bicycles are parked and locked to a bicycle rack and in working order.

We recommend you review your schedule for the days you will be on campus, find the buildings you will be visiting and consult the map and parking recommendations.

Visitor Parking

Weekdays Before 6PM

During the day on weekdays, visitors are responsible for any parking fees required in lots, ramps and meters. Festival visitors (for a nominal fee) may park in the visitor pay-at-exit lots (cash only) or use metered parking (e.g. meters or pay-by plate signed spaces and pay at kiosk within parking structure). Note hours of operation- most others accept credit cards and U.S. coins.

Go to www.maps.msu.edu or this website "map and directions" tab for lot numbers and locations. Due to the heavy traffic  and use of campus meters and pay-to-exit lots on central campus when classes are in session, the areas below are more likely to have available parking:

● Visitor pay-to-exit lots: 62W, 79, and Ramp 3 (Wharton Center off Shaw Lane) – (all cash only - 90 cents per ½-hour or portion thereof)

●Metered  (pay-by-plate spaces as signed - pay at kiosk within parking structure) Ramp 1 – at Shaw Lane Center (signed pay-by-plate spaces – pay at kiosk)

●Metered  (pay-by-plate spaces as signed - pay at kiosk within parking structure) Ramp 5 – at Trowbridge and Red Cedar Roads Center (signed pay-by-plate spaces – pay at kiosk)

●Metered (pay-by-plate spaces as signed - pay at kiosk within parking structure) Ramp 6 – off Grand River Avenue, west of Olin Health Center Center (signed pay-by-plate spaces – pay at kiosk)

Weekdays After 6:00 PM and Weekends*

Whenever possible event locations have been consolidated and are held within buildings that offer easy access to parking ramps and lots. After 6PM and on weekends you may park in general spaces or at meters in the following parking ramps. If there are no other special events taking place, there is no charge to park in Pay-to-exit lots at these times. To view additional lot numbers and locations closest to your event site, go to www.maps.msu.edu .

Ramp 1 (Shaw Lane Ramp)

Ramp 5 (Trowbridge Road Ramp)

Ramp 6 (Grand River Avenue Ramp)

Lot 7 (by Natural Science and Old Horticulture buildings)

Lot 41 (west of Abrams Planetarium)

Lot 46 (south of BPS, near Plant Biology Labs)

*Please note:  Do not park in spaces within these lots that are designated for other uses. (i.e. leased spaces, university vehicle spaces, etc.) as a violation may be written and you may be towed.  Park only as described above.

Concurrent special events may require a fee to enter a lot. Handicap spaces require a valid placard or plate.
